IHSA
Evanston Township High School is a proud member of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA), the official governing body for high school athletics and extracurricular competitions in the state of Illinois. As part of the IHSA, ETHS follows statewide guidelines for eligibility, safety, sportsmanship, and competition.
Through our IHSA membership, ETHS student-athletes have the opportunity to compete at the regional, sectional, and state levels across a wide range of sports and activities. The IHSA organizes postseason tournaments that award state championships to top teams and individual athletes.
Postseason Playoffs
At the end of the regular season, teams and individual athletes who meet qualifying standards advance to IHSA’s postseason tournaments. These playoffs are organized in stages—regional, sectional, and state levels—where teams compete to become champions at each level. Winning teams advance through these rounds. Postseason play offers an exciting chance for our athletes to compete against the best schools in Illinois with the ultimate goal of becoming state champions.
