Athletic Department
Go Kits! ETHS's rich athletics tradition began in 1883 and continues to this day with more than 36 State Championships.
At Evanston Township High School, athletics are an essential part of the student experience. With 42 competitive sports programs and a wide range of intramural, club, and fitness activities, ETHS Athletics provides meaningful opportunities for students to build character, develop leadership skills, and commit to lifelong wellness. We are invested in competitive excellence and in challenging student-athletes to grow into their best selves—as athletes, teammates, scholars, and global citizens.
Athletics at ETHS promote school spirit, unity, belonging, and personal growth. ETHS Athletics complements the district’s core educational mission by contributing to a vibrant, diverse school community that inspires excellence and supports the whole student. The Athletic Department strives to instill the core values inherent in Wildkit culture: effort, selflessness, grit, passion, character, leadership, and excellence.
ETHS competes in the Central Suburban League (CSL) and proudly upholds a tradition of excellence, equity, and sportsmanship. Our programs welcome students of all skill levels and backgrounds, and we are committed to ensuring that every athlete feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive—on and beyond the field of play.

Athletics Mission
The mission of ETHS Athletics is to develop student-athletes into confident, self-reliant, and selfless leaders—on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Our athletes are expected to represent ETHS with integrity, sportsmanship, humility, and passion as they pursue excellence in athletics, academics, and life.
Athletics Philosophy
Through participation in sports, students develop skills that extend beyond the field—character, confidence, resilience, and responsibility. Our coaches lead with intention, helping students learn through challenge, collaboration, and competition.
We believe successful teams strengthen school spirit and build lasting connections, both on campus and in the community. ETHS encourages students of all backgrounds and skill levels to engage in athletics and explore multiple sports or extracurricular activities.
During their time at ETHS, our student-athletes are prepared to succeed in college, careers, and life. We expect them to carry forward the values of effort, integrity, and service—ready to lead and contribute wherever they go.
Equity in Athletics
ETHS Athletics is built on the belief that every student should have access to meaningful athletic opportunities—regardless of their background, identity, or experience level. We’re intentional about creating team environments where students are challenged, supported, and treated with respect.
Our goal is to ensure that every athlete—across all sports—feels a sense of belonging and has the support they need to grow as competitors, teammates, and individuals. We hold ourselves accountable to our commitment to equity in how we coach, compete, and show up for one another.
